Terms of service

Effective 23 October 2026. These terms cover Claudit, the Claude Code plugin published by mchiver at github.com/mchiver/claudit, and this documentation site.

Claudit is free, open-source software. By installing or using it you agree to these terms and to the MIT license the code is released under. If you do not agree, do not install or use it.

1. The license

The Claudit source code is licensed under the MIT License, whose text is in the repository. That license grants you the rights to use, copy, modify and distribute the software, and sets the conditions. Where these terms and the license differ about the code, the license governs.

2. What Claudit is

Claudit is a plugin for Claude Code that records the events of a session, a small server that runs on your computer, and a web page served by that server. It runs entirely on your computer. mchiver operates no service that Claudit connects to, holds no account for you and receives no data from you, as the privacy policy sets out.

3. Your responsibilities

You install and run Claudit on computers you are entitled to use, and you are responsible for anything it records there.
The archive Claudit keeps may hold sensitive material from your sessions, including the contents of files and the output of commands. You are responsible for protecting it, for deciding how long it is kept, and for complying with any obligation you have about recording or retaining such material, including your employer's policies and any agreement with the owner of the code you work on.
You are responsible for keeping Claude Code, Node and your browser up to date, and for the configuration you give Claudit.
You do not use Claudit to break the law or the terms of any service you use it with.

4. No warranty

Claudit is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. The record Claudit keeps may be incomplete: an event can be lost when the server is not running, when a session ends abruptly, or when a row is cut to fit the configured size. Do not rely on it as the sole record of anything that matters.

5. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, mchiver and the contributors to Claudit are not liable for any claim, damages or other liability, whether in contract, tort or otherwise, arising from or in connection with Claudit or its use, including loss of data, loss of confidentiality of anything recorded, or loss of profit. Where the law does not allow that exclusion, liability is limited to the greatest extent it does allow.

6. Third parties

Claude Code is a product of Anthropic. Claudit is an independent project and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or supported by Anthropic. Your use of Claude Code is governed by Anthropic's own terms. The web page uses AngularJS, Bootstrap, marked and DOMPurify, each under its own open-source license, loaded from cdnjs. Installation uses GitHub, under GitHub's terms.

7. Changes

Claudit changes from version to version, and a version may add, change or remove features. These terms may change too; the current version is published here with its effective date, and using a version of Claudit released after a change means accepting the terms in force at that release.
